Follow these tips to help keep your email and personal information safe.

Email has become one of the main sources of communication for many people. However, that does not mean everyone knows how to safely communicate through email. To help ensure that all of your personal and business information stays safe, keep these email security solutions in mind.

  • Get separate accounts – along with a business and personal email, you may want to separate your personal emails into more than one account. Keeping at least two personal email addresses will help to keep your inbox better organized since you can send all of your website registrations, social media notifications, and newsletters to a separate account.
  • Pick the right password – each of your email accounts should have a unique password. Your password should contain uppercase and lowercase letter, symbols, and numbers to help your information stay safe. Do not use a password that references any of your personal information, such as your birthday.
  • Look out for phishing scams – reputable businesses and companies will never ask you to send your personal information over email. If you are not sure about an email that you get, contact the company directly to ensure that your personal information is not compromised.
  • Avoid public Wi-Fi – public Wi-Fi is much easier to hack than private Wi-Fi that requires a password. Even though it may be tempting to check your email while at a coffee shop or airport, try to avoid it to keep your personal information safe and sound.
